COurse VoDCASTS
As part of my courses, I am interested in exploring the use of web 2.0 technology such as wikis, vodcasting, and blogs as a way to facilitate conversations between my students and scientific professionals around the world. It has proven to be a wonderful way to cap off a project after they have explored a topic in depth. This page catalogs our use of internet-based video conferencing technology
Vodcast with Hsien-Hsien Lei, Ph.D.
Students in my spring 2008 Molecular Biology Lab explored the science and ethics behind Direct to Consumer (DTC) genetic testing. Dr. Hsien-Hsien Lei lives in London and is an epidemiologist, biotechnology consultant for DNA Direct, and also runs a blog called Eye on DNA. As part of the assignment, my students had an online discussion on her blog and then we had a followup video conference using Skype to further explore their questions.
